http://BreneBrown.com  Dr. Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work.  She has spent the past decade studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame, and developed The Daring Way™ curriculum as a result.  And she rocks! I first saw Brené Brown on TED.com and instantly related to what she was saying. I believe The Daring Way™ to be foundational; it has influenced my thinking, my language and how I practice as a therapist and leadership consultant.

http://TheDaringWay.com I attended the Brené Brown  Daring Way™ National Certification training for helping professionals and found her to be, in person, as authentic, personable, smart, nice, funny and passionate as she has appeared in her TED talks and her interviews with Oprah Winfrey.  And more importantly, I believe her research is rock solid.  Fabulous!

http://TED.com  The “T” stands for technology, the “E” entertainment, and the “D” design. Any time I want to open my mind or feel inspired, I go to this site and randomly select any of the talks.  Always interesting, always amazing!

AuthenticHappiness.org is the homepage of Dr. Martin Seligman, Director of the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania and founder of positive psychology, a branch of psychology which focuses on the empirical study of such things as positive emotions, strengths-based character, and healthy institutions.  You can find multiple assessments, all for free, on happiness, character strengths, and gratitude, to name just a few.  The site is fun, informative, revealing and helpful to begin your journey toward greater happiness and increased resilience.

http://FeelingGood.com   Cognitive behavioral therapist and author of the best selling book, Feeling Good, Dr. David Burns’ site provides wonderful resources for clinicians and the general public.   I bought my first Feeling Good book in my 20's and wore it out (bound by rubberbands.)  I still use today some of the cognitive behavioral exercises I learned way back then.

http://EMDRIA.org is  a wonderful site to explore EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and determine if it's right for you and the treatment of your trauma.  EMDRIA.org provides information on what a session would look like, the 8 phases of treatment, research and more.  One of the things I like best about EMDR is the research that supports its efficacy  in reducing psychological stress and how quickly people can find relief.  Check it out.

http://5LoveLanguages.com  Discover your love language. Dr. Gary Chapman, author of the New York Times best-selling book, The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts, profiles five different languages of love:
  • Words of Affirmation
  • Acts of Service
  • Receiving Gifts
  • Quality Time
  • Physical Touch
On this site, you can take  free questionnaires to discover your love language and your apology language.  In his book, Dr. Chapman explains how knowing which love language your partner speaks can transform your relationship.  It helped me to better communicate with my husband, and for him to better understand what it meant for me to come home from a trip and find a clean sink– LOL!

http://DavidWhyte.com David is the author of seven books of poetry and three books of prose.  His life as a poet has created a readership and listenership in three normally mutually-exclusive areas: the literate world of readings that most poets inhabit, the psychological and theological worlds of philosophical enquiry, and the world of vocation, work and organizational leadership.

David Whyte brought poetry alive for me and made it applicable in my every day life.  He is a gifted presenter and speaker and I had the good fortune of bringing him into an organization to be a part of a leadership development program I co-ran.  My colleague and I were blown away! His cd’s provide the added value of his brilliant (and I don’t use that word lightly) and unique reading of poetry, and a fabulous Irish/English accent. I am a forever fan and follower!

http://KhanAcademy.org Start Learning Now.  Completely free, forever…says the home page of Khan Academy.   Sal Khan, the creator of this site, is an inspiration on how to do what you love and contribute to the world in a meaningful way. His story, and how Khan Academy came into being, is inspiring.  You can find he and his story on TED.com. I have been a registered khanacademy.org student for over two years now and, have for the second time in my life, become proficient at distributive properties!
